Do you know what this button does?

Since April 2018 all new cars and vans sold have been fitted with an Ecall button. Hopefully you will never have to use it - but if you are in a collision pressing this button (or the one underneath if it is a cover) will put you in contact either with a call centre or directly to the emergency services (depends on manufacturer configuration).

But more importantly, if you are unconscious following a serious collision, the system will automatically advise emergency services that the vehicle has been involved in an event and its location. This could save your life.

Remember - do not abuse the button as this will waste the time of the emergency services - if you press it accidentally, let them know when connected to the operator.
